I wrote this post mid-way through the 24 hour blogging event I did
on the 15th of September, but in the rush of things, forgot to post it!)

In online marketing/business, I run sprints and marathons.
I’m now midway through a 24-hour non-stop blogging marathon to raise
funds and awareness about Congenital Heart Defects. Last year, this
event raised a bit over $25,000. This year, close to the midway mark,
we’re touching $12,500 - just about the same trend.
I also do ’sprints’ - stuff like buying resale rights to a product
and mailing my list and making quick sales, multiplying my small
investment almost instantly. Typically those sort of deals bring in
a few hundred dollars. But take very little time.
That’s the CRITICAL difference between a sprint and a marathon - the
time it takes.
Other stuff is constant. For both, you need skills, experience and
training. One happens fast, the other takes time.
Two launches in the online business space made me think of this.
John Reese released BlogRush.
It’s an innovative form of blog traffic exchange, where you simply
display a widget on your blog, and depending upon how much traffic
your blog gets, you get traffic credits across the network - which
then delivers targeted traffic back to you.
The idea is that with the fresh traffic, you can make more sales,
generate more income, build bigger lists - whatever you do to grow
your business.
The neat thing is…
- It’s quick
- It’s easy
- It’s free
Will it really work that well?
I don’t know - and I don’t care!
It’s hard to lose if you don’t pay for something with too much
time and absolutely no money - so I’m trying out BlogRush.
That’s like a SPRINT.
But all around the Web, there are folks claiming it’s the next best
thing since sliced bread and instant coffee! What gives?
Ah, that’s the ‘Reese Effect’
John’s a magician at building loyal relationships, and always
delivers great value - so no one is surprised that his launch is
being evangelized so widely.
I love it, and never tire no matter how many times it happens!
Sheer magic.

The other launch that’s coming shortly is from Mark Joyner.
It too has great potential to skyrocket your business - but is not
as ‘instant’ or ‘effortless’ as BlogRush.
It’s more comprehensive than just getting traffic, and involves
other elements of your business too, so that you learn more parts
of the process - but take a bit longer, and put in a bit more effort
to do it.
The good thing is that if you get it to work for your business,
there’s no upside limit to how big it can get for you. There’s
really no boundary to what you can achieve with it!
And Mark Joyner is teaching something he’s already the master of -
business building.
To get some insights into this marketing genius’ mind, go to the
free blog and read three very instructive blog posts there about
viral marketing and ‘WOM’. At worst, you’ll ‘waste’ 10 minutes -
and what you’ll get for that time is worth paying a lot to learn.
Mark’s full program is more like a step by step course or program
that takes you through the stages, one after another, so you learn
as you work your way through the material.
And that’s why I think of it as a MARATHON.
Both sprints and marathons can be profitable, considering how much
you invest into them.
Both sprints and marathons can be fun, and have a place in your
online business and marketing.
Both sprints and marathons may be suited to your tastes and needs
- or not. Pick what fits you best, and run with it.
To your success
Dr.Mani
