On Friday, I emailed FORTY-FIVE people whom I thought might be promoting Jeff Walker’s course and offering a Product Launch Formula 2.0 bonus when it launches on March 25th.
My email was simple and to the point. I asked what bonuses, if any, they were offering, so I could make a decision whether or not to buy through their affiliate link.
If I do, the affiliate stands to make around $1,000 in affiliate commissions! So it really was worth taking a bit of time to respond!
Yet, the first 5 people to reply were folks who DID NOT intend promoting, and who wrote to let me know it!
Three executive assistants wrote to say they DID NOT know if their bosses were going to offer a bonus, or what it was!
One person replied directly - with a one-line link to his bonus offer - “Hello. My bonus is… http:// link here” (no, not even ‘Hello, Dr.Mani’!)
And the rest haven’t even replied after 72 hours!
Frankly, I’m AMAZED.
When folks ask me questions about products I promote, I’ve often replied with elaborate, detailed, and PASSIONATE answers - even when the affiliate commissions are no more than $20.
Yet, I sense a distinct lack of PASSION in telling me about a potential $1,000 commission sale! (It also makes me TREASURE those who replied even though there were not promoting, because it shows they care about our relationship, and there isn’t a financial incentive involved!)
Are these guys newbies at the affiliate marketing game?
No way. All of them are likely making 5- or 6-figure incomes from affiliate marketing alone. And they probably lost a 4-figure commission from being unresponsive or dispassionate about their offer!
I’ll leave a link here to my short report, Passion Sells - maybe reading it would help some folks boost their affiliate commissions (and yes, it doesn’t matter if you’re already making a great living from affiliate marketing, you’ll still lose out if you don’t have passion - even if you have the biggest or baddest Product Launch Formula 2.0 bonus!)

That is something that always amazes me aswell also, as you are well known in this niche, it is even more surprising that many have not replied yet! Although some may be super busy and may get back to you soon.

Ok, now it’s a week later. Out of 45 people I contacted, 14 have replied. 3 sent me their REGULAR, UN-tailored-to-fit bonus link (though I had mentioned what exactly I was looking for in a bonus) with little effort to ’sell’ me on why I should buy through their link - and the other 11 said they were NOT PROMOTING!
Remember, these are 45 names I culled out of a VERY long list as folks whom I considered likely JV partners and whose bonuses I seriously would want to get by ordering through their links.
Now, for some of them, surely, a $1,000 commission is just ‘another days work’ - and maybe one or two consider 15 minutes out of their lives worth more than $1,000 (though I seriously doubt THAT!)
Still, the apathy they’ve shown to this request is amazing and appalling.
Or there’s another explanation - in a marketplace where reactions occur like knee-jerks to a physician’s hammer, there probably isn’t a NEED to work hard to get an affiliate sale. The market just acts upon a herd-mentality, and is conditioned to buy - regardless of how hard an affiliate tries to ‘win’ a sale.
Somehow I find that hard to believe too.
