Infoproducts - or information products - are just what the name implies… products based on delivering information to a buyer.
The information may be in the form of written words, spoken words or visual presentations. The content may be delivered in physical or digital form. It may be shipped to your customer’s address, emailed to their inbox, displayed on their computer screens or made available for instant download to their hard drive.
There are many forms of infoproducts - ebooks, print books, audio recordings, video tutorials, seminars, boot camps, home study programs and more.
But the fundamentals of creating an info-product are remarkably similar. You begin by finding out what people want, deciding what information you can provide or compile that will meet that need, and then putting that into the form of a product you can gift or sell to them.
What do people want?
People want solutions to their problems. So find out what problems those in your niche are facing.
People want relief of their pain. Discover what hurts them the most - and think about how to soothe it.
People want fulfillment of their dreams and desires. Tap into those - and make them come true.
Research your infoproduct.
If you’re an expert in your niche, you may already have all the information you need to create your infoproduct. In that case, move to the next step.
Otherwise, you can either research the subject by yourself, or outsource that task to professionals, or even students or interns who will work under your guidance.
Create your infoproduct.
This process can be as easy or difficult as you want. And again, you have a choice between doing it yourself or outsourcing it to others.
If you do it yourself, you can either write your ebook/book, or dictate it into a recorder and have someone transcribe it for you. You can speak into a microphone and record an audio product, or get an expert on the phone and record your interview.
When you have the tools and talent required to create good video presentations, shooting nifty movies can be something you do in the comfort of your home office - on a shoe-string budget.
Outsourcing it.
If you are hard pressed for time or don’t have the skills, you can still be an infopreneur by having an expert handle the infoproduct creation for you - and then taking the finished product to market.
Outsourcing is not always expensive and you’ll be surprised at how efficient it can be when all goes well. You get a readymade infoproduct created and delivered to you without raising your little finger! Doesn’t that sound nice?
The nicer thing about information products is that the content is usually more highly valued than the presentation. You could share the cure for cancer on a handwritten note on the back of a paper napkin, and it would still be highly valued by anyone who receives it!
So, while format and packaging are of some importance, they are not as critical to the success of an infoproduct as the value of what content you provide. That’s the reason infoproduct creation is so popular among online business owners, and being an infopreneur is a smooth and steady path to success.
