Day #10 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day 10 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

Today’s message is going to be brief.

Very brief.

In fact, it’s just one word long…

C O N G R A T U L A T I O N S

:)

And thank you - indirectly, you have helped in the
work of our Children Heart Foundation.

You are special - because you completed the
10 day challenge. On average, 90% of people who
begin a program - ANY program - drop out mid-way.

You finished - and that’s the seed for success.

Keep building upon this momentum and take your
blogging a notch higher.

If you’d like to post a short note about your results…
visitor counts, Adsense income (in total - don’t give out
CTR or other data, which violates their TOS), affiliate
earnings or anything else that could help… please drop
by the blog and leave a comment.

And share your thoughts about being a part of this 10 day
blog challenge.

Day #9 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day 9 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

You’ve come a long way since beginning this ‘challenge’.

And maybe this is more work (and results-oriented work)
than you’ve done in many months, or years, or maybe ever!

You deserve to be FAMOUS for what you’ve achieved this
week… so why not do it?!

Yes, today’s task is to distribute a press release -
about you, your business, your blog, or anything else
related to your niche blog!

Think about something like this:

* Newbie Niche Marketer Earns Online Income In 10 Days

* Beginner Blogger Set To Dominate Niche

* Blogger From _______ (Your Town) Is Authority On
_______ (Niche)

* _______ (Niche) Blog Covers Breaking News

* _______ Blogger Brings Daily Inspiration To Web

Then do a short press release, mentioning your niche
blog and highlighting one or two special features of
it.

Submit your press release to sites like PR web

To get greater benefit and visibility from your note,
you could even place a small bid for wider distribution
through PR web.

At worst, this will give your blog an inbound link
from a high ranked page, and with premium distribution
you’ll get even wider presence.

That’s it for today. Take a break - See you again
tomorrow.

Day #8 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day 8 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

Today’s task is easy - for me to describe :)

For you, it’s going to take some time or effort - or cash!

In a nutshell, here’s what you’ll do:

* Write an article relevant to your niche

* Post it (or part of it) to your blog

* Submit it to article directories (including niche
directories)

That’s all, now get to work! ;)

Day #7 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day 7 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

Today, you’re going to explore a relatively unique social
networking service - which I think has great potential
long-term… it’s called SQUIDOO

After signing up, explore the guide to see how easy
it is to set up your lens.

Want ideas about ’seeding’ your Squidoo lens with links
to all your sites? See one of my lenses here:

http://www.squidoo.com/congenitalheartdefects

Notice how you can get in links to various sections of
your sites, blogs and forum posts. There’s even a blog
module that pulls recent posts to your blog into your
Squidoo lens - automatically.

At the very least, try and work links to these sections
into your lens:

- Your blog

- the Directory of all participant blogs (the link is
http://www.EzineMarketingCenter.com/10dayblog/directory.htm

- the CHD Group homepage (the link is
http://www.squidoo.com/groups/congenitalheartdefects

- the specific forum sub-pages where your posts are
published

- 3 related blogs (you could use the same ones you
used in your blog links post a few days back

- Your social bookmark homepages - this is important,
because it interlinks your various pages, building a
bigger, more powerful authority network

And once you’ve set up your Squidoo lens, go ahead and
post the URL to it in your blog, in your social bookmark
sites (del.icio.us, Furl and BlinkList) and even on
forum posts!

In case you still have some time left today after doing
the Squidoo thing, here’s a thought…

Comment on Blogs

No, don’t ’spam’ them… but post genuine comments, with
links back to your own blog.

You can find related blogs to your niche from our own
directory of ‘Challenge’ participants. Or you could find
them on search engines.

Like forums, post comments about either the blog post
itself, or a related piece of information/news. Make
sure the comment includes a link back to your blog, so
you could get some traffic and inbound links that way

Aim for 3 new ‘comment links’ daily for the next 4 days,
so you’ll at least have 12 new links to your blog!

That’s it for today. Take a break - See you again
tomorrow.

Day #6 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day 6 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

Today, we’re getting into an ‘advanced’ blogging tactic.
It involves using a ‘trigger’ based on a primal, powerful
human instinct - ‘curiosity’

First, you’ll write a blog post. This is similar to the
earlier one you wrote:

- locate an interesting news story or article or opinion/
editorial relevant to your niche

- think about what you want to say

- type a short introduction or ‘lead in’ to the material

- copy-paste an excerpt (short paragraph or snippet) from
the article or news story or website

- place a link to the rest of the story/article/website

Next, find 3 discussion forums related to your niche.
You can do this by searching on Google for

‘Your Niche’ + forums

Pick the busiest, most reputed, high ranking forums,
where many people visit and post regularly.

Register with them. Pick a username relevant to your
niche. Create a ’signature’ which includes a link back
to your niche blog, with your top keyword as the ‘anchor’
text (the text that’s highlighted and readers click on)

Now, post a ‘curiosity builder’ message.

Use a headline like this:

* Have you read this?

or

* Did you know?

or

* What did you think about it?

In the body of your message, make a vague reference to
the news story or article you blogged about. Do NOT give
out all details, but hint about how important it could be
to others in your niche.

Then, sign off!

Here’s what will happen.

Either no one will be interested… which means you’ll have
to try again with a different ‘angle’

Or someone will reply, with a comment or question. Very
often, you’ll get a post asking:

“Where can I read more about that?”

Bingo! You reply, saying you just made a post to your
blog, and that they can read all about it there!

The link to your blog in your signature then acts as their
roadsign, bringing visitors to your blog.

And by going to the busiest, highest ranked forums, you
also make sure search engine spiders will ‘find’ your
blog through your signature link.

Convinced this could work?

Great. Now go out there and find 3 forums today - and
post to your blog and mention it in these forums.

See what happens - and post your results to the forum
so others can see and learn.

That’s it for today. Take a break - I’ll see you again
tomorrow.

Day #5 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day #5 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

You’ve got the major pieces of the puzzle in place, and
today you’ll be putting in one more… an affiliate
link for your niche.

Your blog, as it is now set up, will generate some
cash when visitors click on your Adsense links. But
it’s always nicer to have multiple streams of money
flowing from your site, isn’t it?

So, let’s add another - without having to do any of
the hard work.

Let’s Add An Affiliate Link

What’s an affiliate link?

Briefly, some product owners let others (affiliates)
sell the product for them - and pay them a referral
commission for every sale they refer.

You can be that affiliate - and earn a commission for
each purchase your niche blog visitors make.

How to find a product with an affiliate link?

You can search on ClickBank - www.ClickBank.com -
or one of the other affiliate resources in your
niche market.

Once you find a suitable, related, themed product or
service matching your niche, you can sign up as an
affiliate and get your referral tracking code.

After you get the code, log in to your Blogger.com account.

Click on the TEMPLATE tab and then “ADD A PAGE
ELEMENT” and click on the ‘HTML/JAVASCRIPT’ button.

Into the box, copy and paste your affiliate promotion
code (including your referral link) and SAVE CHANGES.

View your blog to see the changes. Test the link to
see if works correctly.

Now, when you view your blog, you should see the changes
you just made reflected on your blog. You should have
Adsense ads showing up, and a HELP SPREAD CHD AWARENESS
button on the right side of your blog.

You’ll now also see the banner or button for your
niche product that you’re promoting as an affiliate.

If everything looks ok, GREAT. If there’s a problem, like
your Adsense ads or affiliate banner image not displaying
correctly, PLEASE WAIT. It sometimes takes a few hours
for the ads to show up.

If things still don’t look good after a while, you can
either repeat the process to make sure you haven’t made
any mistakes, or post a note on the blog to seek help.

That’s it for tonight, folks :)

See you again tomorrow

Day #4 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day #4 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

Today’s task is a piece of cake - so if you’ve got any
backlog of work from previous days left, use the extra
time to get them done.

Today you’ll be making another blog post - but this one
is VERY easy!

Here’s what you’ll do:

Go to the directory listing the blogs of other members
in the ‘Niche Blog Challenge’… here’s the link

Pick 3 blogs from the list on topics related to your
niche. If you can’t find 3, choose others that you
find interesting.

Next, go to this website:

http://www.EzineMarketingCenter.com/10dayblog/bloglinks.htm

For each of the 3 blogs you picked, copy and paste the
TITLE and URL into the form fields on this website.

Click the button - you’ll generate the HTML code for a
set of links.

Then, log in to your Blogger.com blog account.

Click on the CREATE POST link.

Type in a short sentence saying something link:

“Here are some cool related blogs on _______ (your
niche topic, or keyword) - check them out”

or

“These 3 blogs have some cool stuff I thought you’ll
find interesting. Take a look.”

Copy and paste the HTML code you generated into the post,
and click the SAVE AND PUBLISH button.

That’s it… you’re done for the day!

How does this work?

Just as you picked 3 blogs, each of the other participants
in the challenge chose their own selection of 3 blogs each.
So what we now have is a networked set of hundreds of
blogs, connected through invisible ‘threads’

If a search engine spider ‘finds’ any one of the blogs in
the network, chances are it will hit yours too by following
these links.

And if a human visitor arrives at one of your related
blogs, there’s a possibility s/he may come to yours
through one of these links.

You’ll see how this becomes very powerful once the system
‘matures’ and starts pulling in traffic… soon.

See you again tomorrow

Day #3 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day #3 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

Today, you’ll make your first blog post… and promote it.

Before writing your post, to get the biggest impact from
it you’ll do one simple thing - add Technorati tags to your post.

Here’s a ’secret’ link to make the task as easy as falling off a log!

http://www.egmstrategy.com/ice/tag-generator.cfm

Scroll down to ‘Generate Tags’

Type in 3 to 5 of your top keywords

Select the ‘Technorati’ button

Ignore the other fields

Scroll down further and click on ‘Generate Code’

On the next screen, highlight and copy all code in the
box and paste it into a text file. Save it to your
desktop - you’ll use it during every blog post.

Ok, now let’s get on with making your first blog post
… don’t panic, it’s EASY! :)

Here’s a simple, effective process:

* Go to a news site or article directory in your
niche. Google or Yahoo News is a good resource

* Search for something interesting - controversial
or breaking news, industry breakthroughs, scandals,
human interest stories, anything

* Think for a moment about what you can say about
it - your comments, opinions, prediction, feelings,
fears and concerns… related to the news you just
selected

* Log in to your Blogger.com account, click the link
to your blog, and click on the CREATE POST tab

* Briefly type down your comment or opinion (2 or
3 lines is good enough) - and insert your top 1 or
2 keywords into your comment

* Copy and paste a paragraph from the news story
or article beneath your comment

* Copy the Technorati tags code you generated
earlier, and paste it also into the blog post,
below this.

- - -

(Quick tip: To make it easy for you, you can insert
the code for Technorati tags into the blog post
‘template’ so it automatically is included in your
future posts. Here’s how to do it:

Click on SETTINGS. Then on FORMATTING.

Scroll down. You’ll see a box labelled ‘Post Template’
Paste the Technorati tags code in this box, and click
on the ‘Save Settings’ button)

- - -

* Click the SAVE AND PUBLISH button - and you’re
done

Your first blog post has been published!

All that’s left to do is tell the world about it.

So, now go to Pingoat - http://www.pingoat.com

Type in the title of your blog and its URL into the
form and select the services you wish to notify
about your blog post (in the General category,
you could tick all boxes, and choose only relevant
ones from the other groups)

Then, click on the ‘Go Pingoat’ button.

An announcement will go out to dozens of sites,
telling them you’ve published something new to
your blog!

That’s it for today. Take a break - I’ll see you again
tomorrow.

Help Spread Congenital Heart Defects Awareness

Day #2 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day #2 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

Hope you had enough time to finish your Day #1 tasks.
It’s the toughest - and now that you’re past the biggest
hurdle, things will get easier… and more fun!

Today, you’ll start developing your authority site
network - by tapping into the power of social bookmarking.

Maybe you’ve heard the buzz about ‘Tag and Ping’. Perhaps
what was being debated on forums convinced you it’s all
a lot of bull.

Well, maybe it is - and then again, maybe not!

I spent TEN DAYS putting various elements of the process
into place to build my own authority site network to help
promote my various websites over the months to come. And
I strongly recommend it as a strategic decision.

Best of all, it will only take you a few minutes, so there’s
very little to lose. Are you ready? Let’s get cracking!

For the first stage of this project, you will create accounts
in 3 different social bookmarking sites. These are:

DELICIOUS - http://del.icio.us

FURL - http://www.furl.net

BLINK LIST - http://www.blinklist.com

On each of the 3 services, you must first create a new
account (Tip: Use a valid email address, as you will
need to confirm your account by responding to a message
they will send you)

Done? Great. Now, here’s what you’ll do next…

Into each of the 3 services, you will enter these links
as your ‘bookmarks’:

1. Your own blog link from Blogger.com
http://______ . blogspot.com

2. Links to 20 other participants in the challenge from this
directory - “10 Day Blog Challenge Directory”

(on this page, look for YOUR link. Then, add ALL the other
19 links in YOUR group to the bookmarks in your account)

3. Links to the Children Heart Foundation and CHD Awareness
website:

http://www.CHDinfo.com

and

http://www.EzineMarketingCenter.com/blog/

Step by step, this is what you’ll do…

For DEL.ICIO.US, once you are logged in, click on the POST
link. In the form field for URL, type in the first website
link.

Click SAVE.

On the next page, fill in the rest of the form. For the
‘DESCRIPTION’, you can use the title of the webpage.

You can leave the field named NOTES empty.

In the box labelled TAGS, copy and paste the keyword phrase
for the site you are linking (on the directory page, this is
the same text that is the title).

Click on SAVE - your entry will be saved.

Repeat this for all the links (URLs) in your group.

Special Note: For the Children Heart Foundation link, please
use the following details:

= = =

URL:
http://www.CHDinfo.com

DESCRIPTION:

Congenital Heart Defects Awareness

(or)

Help Save a Child With Heart Birth Defects

TAGS:

Congenital heart disease, heart birth defects, Dr.Mani

= = =

Finished? Great. Now, go to the next service (FURL) and
repeat the same steps.

Then do it one last time on BlinkList.com

Why should you bother doing this?

Because you’re tapping into the power of LEVERAGE!

Wazzat?

Look, you are spending time and effort to put links to
around 25 sites in your social bookmarks.

Sure, it’s hard work. But look at the upside.

20 OTHERS are putting links to YOUR site into THEIR
social bookmarking accounts over the same time!

This means, instead of your site showing up just on the
one del.icio.us or Jots or BlinkList account, it will
be visible on TWENTY of them!

You helped another participant by placing their links in
your account - and received far greater value, in fact a
multiple of 20 times, by helping someone else.

If you ‘get’ the deeper philosophical principle involved
in this mutual assistance, you’ll gain ever greater
benefits from everything you do online!

By the way, that’s all for today’s task. Hope it was
simpler than Day #1.

Take a well deserved break today - and we’ll meet again
tomorrow for the next step.

The “CHD Social Media Challenge” is a project to spread Congenital Heart Defects awareness. There are 4 mini-tutorials and 1 firesale making up the ‘challenge’. You can join in and help too - click here to see how.

Help Spread Congenital Heart Defects Awareness

Day #1 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge

Welcome to Day #1 of your 10 day Niche Blog Challenge.

Today, you’ll take the first step - and create your blog.

Step #1 - Pick a niche

This can be anything you like or know or feel will work.
There are many different ways to choose a profitable
niche, but I won’t get into details here.

You can find some valuable material about picking a
niche on the ‘Niche Marketing Forum’ here

Once you’ve chosen a niche to use in the 10 day challenge,
do some basic keyword research to find the top keyword
phrase in your chosen niche.

A useful tool for this is ‘Niche Bot

Take note of the top 5 to 10 keywords or phrases in your
niche, ranked by popularity of search and degree of
competitiveness. For more details, check out the forum
mentioned above.

Step #2 - Set up your blog

I strongly recommend you use Blogger.com for this 10
day project - but if you insist on using another blog
software, I can’t stop you :)

Why Blogger.com?

Many reasons. But most important is because I’m going
to give you a ready-made Adsense template for Blogger
that has brought me a high clickthrough rate on Adsense
ads in the past.

(NOTE: Adsense revises the ‘Terms and Conditions’ often.
Please check with them and see if the proposed template
fits their criteria and is in accordance with the rules.

While every attempt is made to ensure that the template
I give you is compliant with the rules at the present
time, I DO NOT ACCEPT responsibility in case anything
you do with your blog leads to a problem with Google’s
ToS and any consequences to your Adsense account
.)

By using that same template on your blog, you too can
enjoy the fruits of all my testing and tweaking.

Also, the pre-done template includes links to other
sections of the project - and if you create your own
template, you’ll have to make sure all these are also
duplicated on your blog too.

How to set up your Blogger.com blog?

First, go to http://www.Blogger.com

If this is your first time there, take a few minutes to
and do the QUICK TOUR. It will give you a nice overview.

Then, register for an account and set up your blog.

You’ll have to choose a blog title and your preferred
blog address. Try and get your primary keyword in both.

Choose the ‘Minima’ template, the first one on the top left.

Then make your first post - just a short test message
will do.

Step #3 - Register Your Niche Blog

We require that you REGISTER your newly created niche
blog
so that you may enjoy all the search engine
benefits that come from the linking and promoting
strategy I will be implementing ‘behind the scenes’
for this project.

Once you are registered, your blog will be added to
the directory of sites participating in this ‘challenge’
- and be featured on a page which will get links from
many high traffic and high PR sites.

To register your niche blog, please click here

In the form, type in your Blogger.com blog URL (typically
http://______ . blogspot.com ), your primary keyword, and
a short 30 to 50 word description of your blog.

Click on the SUBMIT button below, and then, on the next
page, CLICK ON THE BUTTON to complete your registration.
This last step is important - please don’t miss it!

Step #4 - Get your Google Adsense account

If you already have a Google Adsense account, you may
use it (maybe set up a ‘channel’ specifically for this
project to track progress)

If you are new to Google Adsense, you’ll see a short
tutorial about it within your Blogger.com account. Go
through it to understand the basics.

You can even apply for an account right from there, and
since Blogger.com is owned by Google, you’ll almost
instantly be approved - and get your code to insert
into your blog.

Step #5 - Customize Your Blog Template

In earlier versions of this program, I gave members a
copy-and-paste code for the blog template.

However, Blogger has now changed structure, so this is
no longer possible.

On the positive side, it is now easy to customize your
blog template from within Blogger.com itself. Here’s
how to get your optimized blog template:

- From your Blogger dashboard, click on the TEMPLATE
tab

- You will reach the page to ‘Add and Arrange Page
Elements’

- Click on any one of the links labelled “ADD A PAGE
ELEMENT”

- From the pop-up window, select ADSENSE (click the
ADD TO BLOG button)

- In the new window that shows up, you can customize
the Adsense block for best results. You can try your
own combinations. I have used this:

a. Format: 250 x 250 Square
b. Colors: Title: #999999 and URL #5588aa
(leave the others at default setting)

- Click on SAVE CHANGES

- Then, CLICK AND DRAG the block you just customized
and DROP IT in the main blog post panel, above the
section labelled BLOG POSTS

- Repeat this process ONE MORE TIME - so that you
have TWO 250 x 250 Square Adsense blocks in the
main blog content panel, ABOVE the blog post content.

- You may add a third Adsense block to the SIDEBAR,
at the top (I like to make this a 160 x 600 Vertical
Wide Banner)

ONE LAST THING:

To help spread Congenital Heart Defects awareness
through your 10 Day Blog Profit Challenge blog, you
need to do one last thing.

Once again, click on the ADD A PAGE ELEMENT link.

In the pop-up window, select HTML/JAVASCRIPT and
click the ADD TO BLOG button below it

On the next screen, type this into the TITLE box:

“Help Spread Congenital Heart Defects Awareness”

Then, in the bigger box below, copy and paste this
code ‘as is’:

This is how the finished template will look:

That’s all, you’re done. Click the PREVIEW button
to see that everything looks ok, and then click on
the SAVE button.

Now, when you view your blog, you should see the changes
you just made reflected on your blog. You should have
Adsense ads showing up, and a HELP SPREAD CHD AWARENESS
button on the right side of your blog.

If everything looks ok, GREAT. If there’s a problem, like
your Adsense ads not displaying correctly, PLEASE WAIT.
It sometimes takes a few hours for the ads to show up.

If things still don’t look good after a while, you can
either repeat the process to make sure you haven’t made
any mistakes, or post a note on the blog to seek help.

Step #6 - Add a Stats Counter

To help track how well your blog is performing, here’s
where you can get a web page counter without paying for
it… Statcounter.com

Install it on your blog, so you can see how your visitor
count grows over time.

That’s all for today. Sorry if it took a little longer
than an hour, the other steps won’t be as difficult :)

Take a well deserved break today - and we’ll meet again
tomorrow for the next step.
