There are many things I might like to be known as, or for.
“#1 Most Influential Blogger” may be one. “Richest Internet Infopreneur” could be another. “World’s Best Dad” surely is a title I’d love.
But when it comes to your personal brand, you have little choice or control over how your audience perceives you. So, the next best thing is to embrace your brand - and enhance, extend or expand it as required.
I surveyed my list about this, and they told me what they thought about ‘Dr.Mani‘…
Dr.Mani Sivasubramanian is a heart surgeon using his Internet marketing business to fund heart surgery for under-privileged children in India.
That’s pretty clear and unequivocal. What they did NOT say matters too.
‘Dr.Mani’ is NOT (yet) known as an Internet infopreneur or widely recognized as a specialist in ezine publishing, email marketing, or niche research. So if I tried to work all that into my ‘personal brand‘ it would be a losing battle, wasteful of energy and time.
There are so many exciting ways to strengthen the existing perception by telling the story of my work online in alignment with this image… and that’s what I’m working on right now.
Embrace YOUR brand. Make it more exciting, interesting and engaging. That’s one sure way to gain influence in your blogging, online networking and everything else you do on the Web.
What does your brand stand for? How do you know? What have you done to embrace it and expand its influence?
