Deccan Chargers former captain - VVS Laxman and Delhi Dare Devils opener Gautam Gambhir made double tons each in the Feroze Shah Kotla test, a favorite hunting ground for the Indian team. After a shaky start Gautam and Sachin got together to steady the Indian innings. After Sachin’s dismissal Laxman and Gambhir continued to consolidate the Indian innings and took India to safety. After Gambhir departed from the scene Laxman, Dhoni, Kumble all contributed to make the Indian total a formidable one - 613 for 7 declared.

Now Australia face the mammoth task of overcoming a 600 plus score and put up a respectable lead if they are to have any chance in this match.

Meanwhile, double centurion Gambhir has been served a one test ban for elbowing Shane Watson in the match during his innings at the crease and also taking into consideration his previous conduct on the field.  Gambhir has 24 hours to appeal against his ban.

Team India are furious but it is fact that the younger players get easily provoked and the Aussies know how to press the right buttons to get the predictable reactions from certain players. A senior player admitted that you can’t provoke a Sachin or a Dhoni that would be dangerous but Bhajji and Sreesanth, Zaheer and Gambhir were easily provoked and OZ team were always using every trick up their sleeve to upset these players.
