Yes, the news is out. From 2011 you will have 3 more teams joining the present 8. The possible new teams will be from Pune, Vadodara or Ahmedabad, Lucknow or Kanpur. There has been clamour for more teams to join the fray and the BCCI buoyed by the unprecendented success of the IPL has decided to oblige. But making it bigger at this stage won’t be fair on the 8 teams already in the competition.

The BCCI has earned a profit of 250 crores from the first IPL and this was being distributed among the state associations to improve their infrastructure said the BCCI head Sharad Pawar.
