IPL opening match will be played in Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy stadium. This was announced by Lalit Modi, IPL chairman after a meeting of all the IPL team owners and IPL governing council.

The tour opener will be a match between Shah Rukh’s IPL Kolkata clashing with Vijay Mallaya’s IPL Bangalore on Apr 18. A lot of pending issues were discussed and settled in the day long meeting. The meeting will continue tomorrow and the future direction of the IPL will be discussed.

The issue of global protection of Australia team’s sponsor was raised and dismissed. It can not be done and it is an issue that has to be discussed and thrashed out by the Australian players and their Cricket Board was the opinion of the IPL Chairman.
