The hard hitting star batsman of the Pakistan Cricket Team - Shahid Afridi has stated that Adam Gilchrist may be a better captain for the Deccan Chargers rather than the soft-spoken Laxman who lacks captaincy talents. It may be interesting to note that VVS was injured during most of the IPL tournament and it was Gilly who captained the team in his absence.

The team overall lacked application and killer instinct. They repeatedly collapsed under pressure and did not seem to know how to finish a game. Even the lowly placed Bangalore Royal Challengers were better than the Deccan Chargers in this department. It remains to be seen how the team will fare in the future touranaments.

The fan support is solid for this team inspite of their poor performance.
